On Sunday, August 15, East Washington residents are invited to join their neighbors for an afternoon of fun, food, entertainment, and community. The picnic will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the East Washington Borough Park on Thayer Street.
The event will also include a park renaming ceremony with new signage after resident Nicholas Cumer. Nicholas courageously gave his life by shielding two of his coworkers from open fire from a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio.
The rededication will be held at 4 p.m. with dinner to follow at 4:30. Residents are asked to bring a covered dish to share. Grilled hot dogs and water will be provided.
We are just getting started planning this. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Reca Panian or the Borough Office. We are also looking for anyone that can volunteer their entertainment services as well as any food trucks that may want to stop by the event.
