In celebration of Earth Day East Washington organized a neighborhood and stream clean-up effort to remove trash and debris from the stream and our neighborhood streets. This included the Parks and Shade Committee raking leaves and pulling weeds at Nicholas Cumer Park, Memorial Park, and around the Borough sign.
We had over 20 great volunteers who cleaned out a massive amount of garbage in two hours. Less than a year after last year’s stream clean-up the volunteers removed a large amount of trash in and around the creek that flows through the Borough. This included three shopping carts, car tires, couch, firepit, and a number of plastic bottles. A number of residents and students from W&J walked the Borough streets and filled eight trash bags
This was our second neighborhood clean-up effort the Borough has coordinated. We would like to thank the following volunteers who spent their Saturday morning cleaning up the Borough. for helping in today’s event:
