One issue under consideration is how to keep East Washington Borough a primarily residential area that has pride of ownership and pride of community. Many residents have voiced a concern over the lack of code enforcement, so we plan to address this matter by being a bit more aggressive, but civilized, by pointing out borough code infractions. Our Code Enforcement Officer is Mike Behrens. You may spot him roaming your neighborhood so please offer him your support since this is an issue that affects all our property values.
We are also aware that several houses have landlords who may not live in the borough. They also should abide by the same standards to which all of us are subjected.
Using simple common sense can help us make a difference in how East Washington appears, not only to us, but to those who visit our borough. Small things make a big difference in how our community appears. Things like keeping lawns mowed, trees trimmed, keeping garbage cans in the rear and not using front porches to hang clothes can help the visual perception of our community.
We are sure that you could add significantly to this list. We know that you will want to assist us in this endeavor. We welcome your comments by emailing secretary@eastwash.com or calling 724-222-2929. Our web site is also loaded with information. Remember, our Council meets the first and third Monday of each month and there is always time set aside for public comment.
Sincerely:
Your Borough Council
