Reca Panian wanted to thank Aaron Lucero, Sandy Motichak, Joe Fulton, and EVERYONE for all their help and support to make the Nicholas Cumer Park dedication ceremony a big success.
Official Action:
- 2020 Audit Report – Lisa Vipperman, Palermo/Kissinger presented an overview of the Audit to Council members indicating that earned income was down due to COVID. However, Council was fiscally responsible and have done a good job managing funds through the pandemic.
- Garbage Contract – Council discussed recycling, hazardous waste, and various concerns about trash in the borough. Or to renew the current contract for an additional year. Kris LaGreca moved and was seconded by Dan Bird to authorize Megan Patrick to start the RFP process for a garbage collection contract by the next meeting, September 13, 2021. 4 Yes Votes, Joe Fulton-No, Doug Corwin-No. Motion passed.
- Nicholas Cumer Park Dedication follow-up. Possible match to the scholarship fund. (Total cash rec’d $111.00) Joe Fulton said the Nicholas Cumer Park Dedication was a huge success. He received a thank you note from the Cumer Family, and they were very grateful. The dunk tank raised $110.00 Request the borough match the funds and place them in the Nicholas Cumer Scholarship Fund which a scholarship would be awarded to a Wash High student.
- Joe Fulton moved and was seconded by Doug Corwin to match the $110.00 donation totaling $220.00 to be sent to the Nicholas Cumer Park Scholarship Fund. – Motion passed.
- A motion was made by Joe Fulton, seconded by Doug Corwin to authorize $200 for ED TV News Production Services for the 45-minute film footage from the Nicholas Cumer Park dedication ceremony. – Motion passed.
- Newspaper subscription –
- Dr. Doug Corwin made a motion seconded by Kris LaGreca to authorize the purchase of one-year subscription to the Observer-Reporter. 4 yes votes, Dan Bird-No. Joe Fulton-No. – Motion passed.
- Discussion continued. Doug Corwin moved, seconded by Kris LaGreca to amend the previous motion, and change the observer reporter subscription to 6 months. – Motion passed.
- ARLE Radar Sign Discussion– Joe Fulton made a motion, seconded by Doug Corwin to authorize a bid for 2 radar signs with the left-over funds from the ARLE grant. – Motion passed.
- Motion Kent James, second Dan Bird to amend the motion above and to authorize bids for 1 and 2 radar signs from the left-over funds from the ARLE Grant. – Motion passed
- Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant – Council member Dr. Kent James made a motion, seconded by Joe Fulton requesting authorization to submit the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant on behalf of the borough. – Motion passed

- Maryann Weinstein, President – Maryann Weinstein, President stated that as a requirement to apply for the Dirt/Gravel Grant we must have a person on staff certified in the program. Currently not being offered because of COVID. Council discussed 102 S. Wade with Megan Patrick, Esq. and what can legally be done at that location due to safety concerns regarding the swimming pool and fence.
- Kent James made a motion, seconded by Dan Bird to authorize Megan Patrick, Esq. to contact the daughter of the deceased property owner at 102 S. Wade via letter or phone and address the pool and secure the fence due to safety concerns in the neighborhood. – Motion passed
- Daniel Bird – Daniel Bird discussed security cameras for the borough buildings and made a motion seconded by Kris LaGreca to direct Joe Fulton, Kris LaGreca, and Chief David Bradly to explore a security system for the borough buildings. – Motion passed
