Action Items/Discussion
- Sarah Boyce, Engineer from the Harshman Group, LLC opened the bids for the park project. Bid tabulation sheet attached. A motion was made by Kent James and seconded by Doug Corwin to authorize Sarah Boyce to evaluate and review the bids and make a recommendation to approve a bidder at the March 7, 2022, meeting. Motion passed.
- Mr. Nicholas Mackereth, DCED, did a power point presentation on the Role of boards and commissions in a borough. The borough does have Washington-East Washington Joint Zoning Ordinances and a Subdivision and Land Division Ordinance (SALDO) which was implemented in 2017. Legislatively a Zoning Hearing Board is required which the borough also has established. The borough also has a Planning commission which makes recommendations, implements goals of a plan, and acts as an advisory board. There is a historic district in East Washington Borough. The borough has a comprehensive plan as well. If an applicant makes a request and it goes before the planning commission, the planning commission will make a recommendation, but Council ultimately makes the decision to approve or disapprove the request. Mr. Mackereth indicated the borough is in good shape with the ordinances. He recommended that council review our comprehensive plan as well as our ordinances related to zoning and that we fill the vacancies in the zoning hearing board. He is open to questions and is available if council would like him to discuss the boards and/or commissions at the borough office in the future.
- Joe Fulton moved and seconded by Dan Bird to approve the Animal Control Contract as presented. (2-year term)
Motion passed by unanimous vote.
