- Ray Dunlevy, Beau Street – Mr. Dunlevy explained that he purchased his home approximately 45 years ago. He has fixed up his home and is concerned about the area behind his house turned into a dump. He said Mr. Makel visited the area some time ago and was to make suggestions as to cleaning up the area. Mr. Dunlevy is also concerned that there will be increased traffic in the alley if the glass recycling dumpster is placed in that area and passed by council. Has council considered any of these items prior to approving the glass recycling?
Official Action:
- Road Mid Addition – Motion Joe Fulton, second Kris LaGreca to authorize Rich Rush to add to the road bid the Seminole speed hump (s) on South Wade. – Motion passed.
- Glass Recycling – Council affirmed their intent to do their own glass recycling
- East Lane – Update on W and J East Lane/driveway project. Solicitor Makel advised Council the following items may be needed for the EWB-W&J East Lane/driveway project. Investigate the need for a traffic study, submit drawings, engineer review, and address any liability issue. After a lengthy discussion and at the advice of Solicitor Makel the following motion was made: Motion Doug Corwin, second Kent James to authorize the Solicitor to develop a process for the East Washington Borough and W&J East Lane/driveway project. To prepare an agreement requiring W&J to pay $3,500 be placed in an ESCROW account and if it goes below $1,500 to be replenished back to $3,500. -Motion passed.
- Formalizing re-naming of Thayer Park – In August 2019, previous council approved the name change of Thayer Park to Nicholas P. Cumer Park. A proclamation was presented to his parents at the annual East Washington Borough picnic. Council discussed having an official ceremony to rename the park and placement of a new sign. A motion was made by Doug Corwin, seconded by Dan Bird to authorize Joe Fulton the locate a sign company for a new sign not to exceed $1,000. – Motion passed. Reca Panian and Aaron Lucero will determine the best place to put the new sign.
- Bond / Loan – President Weinstein asked Council if they want to pursue getting information about issuing a bond or loan to repair roads. Can be paid off possibly in 15 years. Council agreed and President Weinstein will set up a meeting with Mike McCaid.
- Domain letter for eastwash.gov. – Council discussed the content of the letter for a new domain eastwash.gov. which indicates that the Mayor would be responsible for payment. For clarification, a motion was made by Joe Fulton, second Demond Nixon that the annual payment of $400.00 for the domain would be paid by East Washington Borough. Motion passed.
- Tree Replacement – Mr. Doug Corwin made a motion second by Demond Nixon to purchase and replant a tree that died that the Girl Scouts planted at the Memorial Park. The approximate cost is $30.00. – Motion passed.
Motion Demond Nixon, second Dan Bird to remove the above motion. Mr. Makel will be donating the cost of the tree to the borough. – Motion passed.
Motion Kris LaGreca, second Doug Corwin to authorize Beth Fulton, Reca Panian and Aaron Lucero to arrange for the planting of the tree (weather permitting). – Motion passed
- New Tractor – Aaron Lucero, Supv. Public Works requested Council consider the purchase of a new tractor. Dan Bird made a motion seconded by Kent James to purchase a JDx57 John Deere tractor with a 48” deck at the Costars price of $6,122.89. The old tractor is to be sold, listed on Municibids. Motion passed.
