Public Comment

- Tom Evans 16 North Wade. Mr. Evans is concerned about dogs that are attacking people in the borough. EWB police did respond to his call but feels that the borough ordinance needs updates with more strict language for violations. The Neighborhood Committee will be looking into this.
- Kelly Alderson 535 E. Chestnut Street. Mr. Alderson is concerned about North Avenue. Specifically, Ordinance No. 166 Section F, regarding rental properties. There has been home invasion, attempted rape, drug busts, and public nuisance reports in the borough. Is Code officer addressing these situations? Is the homeowner notified of these events that are taking place in the rental units?
- Lee Ann Wisman 513 E. Chestnut Street. She is also concerned about the events that are occurring in the rental units in the borough and other areas. She is afraid to walk to and from her house at night after coming home from work. She asked Council if a light could be installed at the end of the street for safety purposes.?
Official Action:
- Services – A representative from Republic Services Renee Shipley, Manager, Municipal Sales turned in her bid to the borough. Mr. Makel read the rates and went over the bid/contract at the meeting.Motion Dan Bird, second Michael McCormick to award the Trash bid at the continuation meeting on October 25, 2021, pending final review of the documents. – Motion passed.
- Memorial Park Monument Cleaning – Motion/second to approve P&S Clark Monument Repair-Cleaning Estimate $250.00 – Aaron and Reca, Joe Fulton made a motion to approve the $250.00 fee for cleaning the Monument at the memorial park. No second to the motion, motion did not pass.
- Budget – Kent James, Michael McCormick, and Maryann Weinstein will review and finalize the budget for the November meeting.
- American Rescue Fund – Joe Fulton and Michael McCormick met and created a list of what the Borough can use the American Rescue Funds for.THIS ITEM MOVED UP AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL:
- Revised engineering fee for ARLE grant. President Weinstein explained that there may be an additional fee for engineering services from Trans Associates -Cliff Eich, for preparing the ARLE bids adding two radar signs. The additional fee may be an additional $700. Also inform our PENNdot Municipal Services Supervisor, Rick Skovensky and our PENNdot Municipal Services Representative, Brandon Firestone of this change.Aaron Lucero requested hiring a third person to help with Leaf Pick up season. President Weinstein moved and seconded by Doug Corwin to hire Kultyn Lusher as a part-time seasonal employee with no benefits at a salary of $10.00 per hour under the direction of Aaron Lucero, Public Works Supervisor, subject to the last day of employment determined by Aaron Lucero. Job position is to help clean debris, and/or leaves during leaf pick-up season. Motion passed.
- Fire contract update. Kris LaGreca is communicating with the City of Washington. Update to follow.
