Motions
- Reca Panian requested to speak about trees planted in the park. Ms. Panian strongly suggested that any trees be planted after the construction or reconstruction of the park. A request was received from members of the Cumer family to plant trees in memory of Nicholas’s deceased grandmother and a neighbor. A council member or Mayor Nixon will respond to Cumer’s request. Also, has previously been approved to replace a tree that the Girl Scouts planted. It was destroyed by vandals.
- Dr. Doug Corwin made a motion, seconded by Michael McCormick to approve the August 2, 2021, minutes with the following correction: The motion to rescind the purchase of the Tesla did not pass. – Motion passed.
- A motion was made by Dr. Doug Corwin, seconded by Michael McCormick to approve the Continuation meeting minutes of August 23, 2021. – Motion passed.
- Joe Fulton moved and was seconded by Dan Bird to approve Bills GEN Acct. $32,629.51 (Checks 7236 to 7287) – Motion passed.
Official Action:
- Dr. Kent James announced that the ARLE Radar Sign (Additional Scope of Work for Permanent Speed Display Signs) approval was received from PennDOT, Rick Skovensky, Supv. Municipal Services via an email dated September 7, 2021.
- Dan Bird made a motion, seconded by Dr. Doug Corwin to authorize Megan Patrick to advertise the bid for a new trash contract. The current contract ends December 31, 2021. – Motion passed.
- Motion Kris LaGreca, second Dan Bird to authorize the payment of $64,110.40 to Independent Enterprises.– Motion passed. Motion Kris LaGreca, second Dan Bird to amend the above motion as follows: Authorize the payment of $64,110.40 to Independent Enterprises after the maintenance bond is received. – Motion passed.
- Michael McCormick moved, seconded by Joe Fulton to approve the Minimum Municipal Obligation (MMO) for the PMRS Non-Uniform Pension Plan amount of $7,939 for 2022. – Motion passed.
- Dan Bird made a motion, seconded by Kris LaGreca authorizing the Treasurer to move the American Rescue Grant Funds received $94,725.64 from the General Account to a separate new account.– Motion passed. Council briefly discussed the use of the American Rescue Funds. Megan Patrick, Esq. will provide information on approved uses when it becomes available. She is confident that the funds can be used for water and sewer (MS4) repairs and infrastructure.
- Joe Fulton moved and seconded by Dr. Doug Corwin to set EWB Trick or Treat for Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. – Motion passed.
- Motion Dan Bird, seconded by Michael McCormick to table the Fire Contract discussion. Need to set up a meeting with the City of Washington to discuss the Fire Contract. – Motion passed.
- Motion Dr. Doug Corwin, seconded by Kris LaGreca to set the Budget Workshop Meeting on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 7:00 pm. Secretary to advertise Budget Workshop. – Motion passed.
- Aaron Lucero presented 2 quotes to the council for approval.
- Metz Trans, LLC – South Wade Inlet Repair-Grate, patch road, wedge curbs to be installed. $5,500.00
- Metz Trans. LLC – Ford Alley Inlet Repair-Excavate collapsed grate, reset, and backfill. $1,850.00
- Motion Kris LaGreca, seconded by Dr. Doug Corwin to amend the agenda and add the South Wade Inlet Repair and Ford Alley Repair quotes from Metz Trans, LLC. – Motion passed.
