On Monday, January 13th, the Borough Council unanimously voted to appoint Eric Holt as Chief of the East Washington Police Department. Following the resignation of Tim Kreger, Officer Holt had been serving as Acting Chief, working closely with Mayor Demond Nixon to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
After the vote, Mayor Demond Nixon shared a few words: “Officer Holt has been a member of the East Washington Police Department for 16 years. During that time, he has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to excellence in policing and to our community. His dedication to both the department and East Washington deserves recognition. It is my honor to officially swear in Eric Holt as the Chief of Police for the East Washington Police Department.”
Surrounded by his wife Nicole, two daughters, and immediate family—while their infant son remained at home—Officer Holt raised his right hand and was sworn in by Mayor Nixon as the new Chief of Police.
Chief Holt remarked, “It has been an honor and privilege to serve these last 16 years, and I hope to continue serving East Washington with honor and integrity.”
