Following Republic Services’ removal of glass from the residential recycling program, the Borough of East Washington is participating in South Strabane’s glass recycling program. This agreement provides East Washington residents with a convenient way to recycle glass.
Beginning March 2nd, East Washington residents may drop off the recyclable glass into the designated red dumpster located between the South Strabane Municipal and Police Department Buildings at 550 Washington Road. The map below illustrates where the dumpster is located, and the best way to access it.
Please observe the following tips to ensure the Township is compliant with the vendor’s requirements.
- Glass containers must be rinsed of any perishable debris before being recycled.
- Adhesive labels do not need to be removed from the glass before being recycled.
- Plastic, cork, and bi-metal container lids must be removed before glass being recycled.
- Glass products such as mirrors, porcelain dishware, and light bulbs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Materials such as plastic, cardboard, and metal(s) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- The recycling area is under 24/7 video surveillance. Proper compliance with the aforementioned rules is essential for the continuance of this service.
