Mayor Demond Nixon officially swore in the newly elected and re-elected East Washington Borough Council members at the beginning of the reorganization meeting. The East Washington Borough is excited to welcome new Councilman Tom Marshall to provide a fresh perspective and a dedication to community service. Mr. Marshall won the four-year and two-year seats this past election choosing to accept the four-year seat. Borough Council will appoint a resident to fill the vacant two-year seat in February. Marshall joins the team of re-elected council members Joseph Fulton, Doug Corwin, and Kent James, and current council members Maryann Weinstein and Michael McCormick.
Before the reorganizational meeting, newly elected Demond Nixon was officially sworn in at Dennis Makel’s office on December 28th, after winning the 2023 election. Council appointed Mr. Nixon to Mayor following the death of Mayor Matthew Boice. Mr. Nixon fulfilled Mayor Boice’s remaining term.
