We are saddened to announce Mayor Matthew Boice passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022. Matt resided in East Washington Borough for 34 years, serving on council as the borough president, and sworn in as mayor in 2022.

A retired high school teacher, Matt was involved with numerous organizations. He was the Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Washington. He volunteered as the coach of a girls softball team and with the Washington High School Band.

Matt was very active in the Masonic Fraternities and the Shriners raising money to benefit Muscular Dystrophy, The Eye Foundation, Special Olympics, and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Borough of East Washington sends our condolences to his wife Linda, his two daughters, granddaughter, family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by him. Matt was a prominent member of our borough and his death is a tragic loss to our community.
