East Washington Borough Council will hold the next Borough meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 7 pm at the First Christian Church, 615 East Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
The purpose of the meeting is to hear a presentation and have a question and answer session on the requirements the borough must meet regarding the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) Permit Program.
The presentation will be given by Sarah Boyce, an engineer working on the project for the Borough, and will include:
- An overview of the permit requirements
- Annual obligations of the Borough
- 5-year requirements to be completed prior to their renewal due in 2023
- Public education
- Public involvement and reporting
- Operations and maintenance of municipal properties
- State required sediment reduction programs
The MS4 program will require a large outlay of funds. Members of the public are encouraged to attend this program to become better informed about the Borough’s responsibilities.
The regular council meeting will be held after the presentation which is expected to last about one hour.
