Tips to ensure a smooth tax payment:
- If you want a “paid” receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your entire bill payment.
- After Dec. 15, taxes may be paid to the Borough Tax Collector only with a cashier’s check or money order.
- After Dec. 31: Taxes not paid by Dec. 31 are delinquent and can only be paid at the Washington County Tax Claims Office.
- Please do not make your checks payable to East Washington Borough or to the Washington School District, as this will cause delays and may cause late penalties.
- Please be sure you have sufficient funds to cover your tax payment! A $40 fee will be added for NSF checks and may cause late penalties. NOTE: The NSF fee was adopted by Borough Council in Resolution 001 of 2022.
- Sending cash through USPS is not advised. Paying in cash is highly discouraged.
NOTE: Only the Washington County Tax Office can make a change to your tax billing address. Please contact that office directly if your tax billing address has changed for any reason. If you have paid off your mortgage, it is recommended that you contact the County Tax Office to make sure that the billing/mailing address for your tax bills has been updated to the correct address. The Borough Tax Collector is precluded by law from changing a tax billing address. Remember: Even if you do not receive a tax notice, you are responsible for paying your taxes on time.
